While the brand still does not have much of a presence in the U.S. and in Europe, they are already extremely popular in China, India and other emerging markets. It is only a matter of time for Xiaomi to land in the offering of all major cellphone providers.
Today they have announced their new Redmi 2 smartphone – the next generation of their most popular phone, the Redmi. The phone packs the following functionality:

– Snapdragon 410 1.2GHz, quad-core 64-bit SoC
– 4.7-inch 720p IPS LCD
– 1GB of RAM
– 2200mAh battery
– 8GB storage with microSD card
– 8MP camera
– FDD-LTE and TDD-LTE
– Dual SIM

The mid-range phone looks decent and packs a decent amount of features and functionality. The impressive part is actually the price. The new Xiaomi Redmi 2 is priced at just $112, when it releases on January 9.
